How fiber and mobile portability works step by step

5 steps. We handle the last 4. You just decide to start.

1

Check coverage

Verify that Bivid reaches your address using the coverage checker or ask via WhatsApp.

2

Choose plan

Select your Bivid plan (fiber, mobile or bundle) on /tarifas/ and fill out the form or request it via WhatsApp.

3

Sign contract

You'll receive the contract by email for digital signature (with your ID). No paperwork required in person.

4

Bivid manages the cancellation

We file the portability with your current provider and the cancellation without you having to call them.

5

Activation without downtime

We coordinate the activation of your new Bivid line before filing the cancellation of the old one so you don't lose service.

How long exactly?

Mobile portability: 24-48 business hours

The CNMC requires operators to execute portability within a maximum of 1 business day from confirmation. In practice, if you sign on Monday morning, your mobile will be on Bivid by Tuesday. If you sign on Friday afternoon, it will be the following Monday or Tuesday.

Exception: portabilities scheduled on weekends or public holidays are executed on the next business day.

Fiber portability: 3-7 business days

Fiber requires physical coordination. Our technician must come to your home to install the router before canceling your old service. The timeline depends on:

  • Bivid's own coverage (Lleida, Almacelles, Binéfar, the Tarragona coast and adjacent areas): 3 days.
  • Wholesale coverage (rest of Spain): 5-7 days depending on the cable operator.
  • Rural area without deployed fiber: up to 15 days if civil works are required.

And meanwhile, you're left without service?

No. We coordinate Bivid's activation BEFORE canceling your old operator. On the switching day you may be without a line for a few minutes (while the change is applied in the exchanges), but fiber and mobile keep working with your new operator within hours.

Portability without losing your number

Your phone number (landline and/or mobile) is portable by law. Portability does NOT mean changing your number: the line is simply transferred technically to the new operator while keeping the same digit.

What if I have multiple lines?

You can port as many as you want at the same time. Indicate them in the form or via WhatsApp. Each line is an independent process that runs in parallel.

What if I have a new unused SIM card?

Portability uses your current number, NOT the SIM card. The old SIM becomes unusable and we send you a new one. If you want to keep the SIM in the same phone, simply swap the card when it arrives.

Do I lose calls during the switch?

Possible brief outage (1-30 minutes) on the effective change day. Afterwards, all incoming calls reach your new operator. We recommend notifying important contacts the days before.

How much does portability cost?

€0 from Bivid. We don't charge portability fees, installation, line activation, SIM shipping or router setup.

What about the early termination penalty from my previous operator?

If your previous operator had you under contract, early cancellation may incur a penalty. That penalty is charged by your previous operator and is calculated proportionally to the remaining months (regulated by law).

Example: if you have 12 months of contract with €200 initial penalty and you switch after 8 months, you'd pay 200 × (4/12) = €67 approximately.

We calculate it beforehand: send a photo of your bill via WhatsApp and we'll tell you if the switch is worth it or if it's better to wait.

Is fiber installation really free?

Yes. Installation, WiFi 6 router and technical setup are free at Bivid with no conditions. We don't charge you when you sign up or if you cancel (we return the router at the end).

What happens to your @operador.es email?

Email addresses provided by your previous operator (@movistar.es, @orange.es, @vodafone.es, @euskaltel.net, @ono.com, etc.) are canceled when you cancel. It's owned by the operator and is not portable.

3 recommendations to not lose important emails

  • Migrate to an independent address: Gmail, Outlook or ProtonMail. It's free and will last forever without depending on an operator.
  • Set up automatic forwarding: during the last few weeks before the switch, forward the email from the @operador address to your new email so you don't lose messages.
  • Notify critical contacts: bank, administrations, subscriptions, social networks, electricity and gas companies, etc. Change the contact email in services where you receive bills or important notices.

Does Bivid give me a @bivid.es email?

Not at the moment. We recommend an independent email address so your address doesn't depend on any operator. If you need help with the migration, ask us on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions about portability

How long does mobile portability take?
Between 24 and 48 business hours from contract signature, according to CNMC regulations. Portability is only carried out during business hours Monday to Friday (no holidays). If you sign on a Friday afternoon, portability will be executed between Monday and Tuesday.
How long does fiber portability take?
Between 3 and 7 business days. Fiber requires physical coordination: our technician will install your new line BEFORE processing the cancellation so you don't lose internet. In areas with our own network, the timeframe is 3 days.
Will I lose my number during portability?
No. Your number is protected by law. Portability technically "ports" the number from your previous operator to Bivid without losing incoming calls (except for a few minutes on the day of the change).
How much does portability cost?
At Bivid it's free. We don't charge any portability fee, fiber installation, or mobile line activation. If your current operator charges you a penalty for early termination (commitment), that's their responsibility.
Do I have to call my company to cancel?
No. Portability includes automatic cancellation with your previous operator. Bivid handles it on your behalf. You sign the contract with us and the change happens automatically. DON'T call your previous operator: if you do they'll offer you counter-offers and may block the portability.
What happens to my email @movistar.es, @orange.es, @vodafone.es?
Those email addresses are owned by the operator and will be cancelled when you cancel. Recommendations: (1) migrate to an independent address (Gmail, Outlook) before the change. (2) Set up automatic email forwarding from your @operator email during the last few weeks. (3) Notify important contacts (bank, administrations) of your new email.
Can I cancel portability once it's started?
Yes, up to 24 hours before the scheduled date. After the change is effective, you could return to your previous operator but it would count as a new sign-up and could have small print terms. That's why we recommend consulting us on WhatsApp first if you have doubts.
What if I still have a commitment with my current operator?
You can still switch. Your current operator will charge you a proportional penalty based on the remaining months (limited by law). We'll help you calculate if the change is worth it by sending us a photo of your latest bill on WhatsApp.
Do I also have to change my landline number?
No. The landline number is also portable. If you want to keep your historic landline, simply let us know when you contract and we'll port it along with your mobile.
Does Bivid call you to confirm portability?
Yes, you'll receive an identity confirmation call (a process regulated by CNMC to prevent fraudulent portability). We'll also send you an SMS with the portability code to confirm the operation. If you don't answer these two verifications, portability won't be executed.
